iOS 9 Software Update Failed? Here’s How to Get Update Using Your Computer
Apple has finally rolled out the latest iteration of its mobile operating system iOS. With iOS 9, users are getting introduced to many new features. The iOS 9 update is available for download and I’ve just upgraded my iPad. However, tons of iPhone and iPad users are facing problems with the update.
Apple users are complaining that before the upgrade even begins to install, they are getting a message Software Update Failed, an error occurred downloading iOS 9. Apple has said that that there is heavy loads on its servers and some users are facing problems. In a tweet, Apple Support writes: “IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be patient w/ iOS9 as due to the overwhelming numbers of downloads, it may not download right away. Thanks!”
If you are getting the error using Over the Air update, try this workaround to get the upgrade.
Open your desktop computer and launch iTunes. If you don’t have iTunes, install it. Now plug in your iPhone or iPad into the computer and open iTunes. It should show a popup automatically showing your device. If it doesn’t show, select your device in iTunes.
You’ll be greeted with a notification that iOS 9 is available for download. Click on it to complete the download.
The iTunes screen will display the message: “iTunes is installing a software update for this iPhone and will install it when the download is complete.”
You can click on the top right of your iTunes to check the status of your download. You can also use this method if the internet isn’t working fine on your iPhone or iPad.
Install the new iOS 9 update on your device and tell us your experiences in comments.
